Review

After cooking for years, you will start to have a better eye for what quality cookware looks like.

In this case, two things stand out the most for us. First are coated handles designed to keep you from burning your hands. Second, glass lids so that you can see what’s going on without releasing steam or lowing your meals temperature prematurely.

You might also notice that this set’s red outer coating is much deeper and elegant than other cookware that we’ve reviewed.

Pros

  • Glass tops for viewing
  • Nonstick cooking surface for easy cooking and cleanup
  • Deep red coloring

Cons

Bottom Line

With the included Stoneware casserole dish, this Belgique nonstick aluminum cookware set makes our top nonstick pick and should complete most everyday needs.

What’s In The Box | 11 Pieces

  • 1.5 Quart Covered Saucepan
  • 3 Quart Covered Saucepan
  • 3 Quart Covered Sauté Pan
  • 8 Quart Covered Stockpot
  • 10” Covered Fry Pan
  • Steamer Insert (Steamer Fits 3 Quart Saucepan)

Review

Belgique also offers this nonstick cookware collection for those who are not interested in stainless steel. However, if you were looking for the best induction cookware set, this is not for you.

Belgique has chosen to use metal handles on this set, but the pots and pans are only oven safe up to 350°F, the lids 300°F. If you decide to toss them in the oven, you will need to use potholders for any sustained cooking to avoid burning your hands.

We are a big fan of steamers, so having one included with this set is a bonus.

Despite hard-anodized claims, the coating in this set is relatively delicate and may wear off in time, no matter how careful you are. It’s important to avoid using it with metal utensils, lest you accidentally scratch it and accelerate this process.

This set should last two or three years before you need to replace it. Other sets tend to last about that long or less, so you’re not gaining or losing anything by choosing this one.

Pros

  • Nonstick cooking surface
  • Hard anodized construction for durability
  • Glass lids for visibility and fit

Cons

  • Not metal utensil safe

Bottom Line

The coating on this hard-anodized aluminum 12 piece nonstick cookware set should be more durable than the previous option and suitable for most everyday cooking.

It’s pretty hard to go wrong with the best stainless steel cookware.

Stainless steel comes in various grades, and 18/10 is a grade notable for its strength and durability. However, the lack of surgical grade stainless in this Belgique’s stainless steel set might be a deal-breaker for some.

Typically, a permanent impression, or stamp, is made on the cookware to let consumers know what quality of steel was used for construction. This Belgique set doesn’t come with that quality stamp.

It’s nice that Belgique has included something with a specific purpose rather than just a pot or pan of a different size that you won’t use.

Belgique claims that the angled handles are nicer to use on a stove. They certainly aren’t worse than anything else, but we can’t see how they’re an improvement.

In any case, you’ll want to have a set of potholders handy for any prolonged cooking, as the metal handles can get hot. The holes for hooks are excellent, and glass lids are a pleasant consideration.

The stainless cooking surface requires a bit of oil and careful temperature control to prevent food from sticking. Best of all, the surface won’t wear off like a nonstick coating.

You might occasionally have to clean it with some vinegar or a mild abrasive to restore its luster with most stainless-steel cookware. Check out our stainless-steel cookware guide for more information and tips.

Pros

  • Angled handles with hang holes for easy storage and use
  • Induction Compatible

Cons

  • Coated handles reduce the maximum temperature

Bottom Line

We consider this Belgique stainless cookware set to be mid-range in its class would even suit budget-conscious home cooks.

What’s In The Box | 10 Pieces

  • 1.5 Quart Casserole With Lid
  • 3 Quart Casserole With Lid
  • 1.5 Quart Steamer Insert (Fits The 3 Quart Casserole)
  • 8 Quart Covered Stock Pot
  • 4 Quart Sauteuse
  • 10” Fry Pan
  • 12” Frying Pan

Review

One of the problems with owning a lot of cookware is storage space.

This stackable cookware set can be nested into itself for a 30% reduction in its storage footprint. Being that it is made out of stainless, you shouldn’t have any problems with scratches.

Again, this is a complete set for daily cooking, and one we wouldn’t have a hard time recommending.

Pros

  • Stackable for smarter storage
  • Pans safe up to 450°F
  • Options

Cons

  • More expensive compared to the other stainless option

Bottom Line

If we had to choose between the two stainless sets we’ve reviewed on this page, the stackable Belgique stainless-steel cookware set makes the most sense for its temperature tolerance and storage ability.

Belgique 10 Piece Copper Bottom Cookware Set

Belgique 10 Piece Cooper Bottom Cookware

What’s In The Box | 10 Pieces

  • 8 Quart Stockpot With Lid
  • 3 Quart Covered Saucepan
  • 2 Quart Covered Saucepan
  • 1.5 Quart Covered Saucepan
  • 10” Fry Pan
  • 8” Frying Pan

Review

This copper bottom cookware has a very professional finish, which reminds us of other high-end clad cookware on the market.

You should be able to get many years out of this set when taken care of properly, but there are a few things you need to know.

Keep an eye out when it’s time to clean up. Copper is a softer metal and reacts with acids, such as tomato sauces, so it’s best to avoid tossing this set in the sink with the rest of your dishes. It is dishwasher safe, but hand washing is recommended over the dishwasher.

Make sure you go over and follow the manufacturer’s directions to keep this set from getting ruined. There are a couple of things, such as first use seasoning and lower temperatures, that you’ll want to follow as well.

Pros

  • Professional finish
  • Copper bottom for better heat distribution
  • Glass lids

Cons

  • Extra care and attention required compared to other stainless sets
  • Copper may tarnish over time

Bottom Line

Some chefs swear by copper cookware and others by stainless. To get the best of both worlds, this Copper Bottom Cookware Set, Created for Macy’s, meshes both worlds together.

Belgique Copper Translucent 11 Piece Cookware Set

Copper Translucent 11 Piece Cookware Set

What’s In The Box | 11 Pieces

  • 8 Quart Stockpot With Lid
  • 3 Quart Covered Sauté Pan
  • 3 Quart Covered Saucepan
  • Steamer Insert
  • 1.5 Quart Saucepan With Lid
  • 10” Fry Pan With Lid

Review

This beautiful nonstick cookware has a copper-tone finish on the outside. While that isn’t designed to be more heat effective, it will undoubtedly look great in most kitchens.

Just like the other nonstick cookware sets in our reviews, you’ll probably want to avoid sticking them in the oven. They aren’t designed to be used that way.

Pros

  • Beautiful design
  • Manufacturer’s limited lifetime warranty

Cons

  • Copper is just the outside finish

Bottom Line

Beautiful design with all the pots and pans that you would need for everyday cooking, the Copper Translucent Cookware Set offers a bit more elegance than other options we’ve reviewed.

Belgique Hard Anodized 7.5 Qt. Covered Dutch Oven

Belgique Hard Anodized 7.5 Qt. Covered Dutch Oven by Belgique

What’s In The Box | 1 Piece

  • 7.5 Quart Covered Dutch Oven

Review

While this is only a single unit, we have included this Dutch oven in our top picks because it’s one item from Belgique that you might be missing.

You can pack quite a bit of food in this 7.5 qt pot, but you’ll have to use caution. For example, if you plan to cook meat with large sharp bones, it’s possible to scratch the nonstick coating.

Related | Nonstick Pan Coating Coming Off

Pros

  • The Dutch oven is oven safe up to 450F
  • Nonstick cooking surface

Cons

  • The glass lid safe only up to 300F

Bottom Line

If you have to have a matching Dutch oven to go along with your Belgique cookware, this might fit the bill. But if you’re serious about Dutch oven cooking, we’d recommend that you take a look at Staub or Le Creuset.

Belgique Cookware FAQs

Is Belgique Cookware Oven Safe?

Each piece of Belgique cookware is subject to different maximum oven temperatures and generally on the low end compared to other brands. If you need cookware safe for the oven, consider their 10-piece stackable set where the pans are oven safe up to 450°F and the lids to 300°F.

Where Is Belgique Cookware Made?

You will find new product listings stating that the cookware is “imported.” However, On the bottom of each piece and box that we inspected is labeled “Made In China.”

A quote from one of our readers who own Belgique cookware from the early 90’s Marianne says,

My set, that is now over 30 yrs. old says on the bottom of my pots, “Belgique-Made in Belgium.” LOVE MY BELGIQUE!!

A change in manufacturing is not surprising.

What Is Belgique Cookware Made Of?

It is made from a wide variety of cookware materials. The item may include copper, stainless steel, aluminum, and hard anodized and nonstick coatings.

How To Season Belgique Cookware?

You shouldn’t need to season any of the sets listed above. Using moderate temperatures and a small amount butter, fat, or oil should be enough to keep food from sticking. If you’re not familiar with cooking with stainless steel, we recommend checking out our other guides.

Belgique Cookware Review: Final Thoughts

While nothing blew us away about Belgique cookware, there weren’t any major issues either.

We feel that both their stainless steel and nonstick cookware sets are the mid-range end in terms of price and quality.

This is great because it may be more affordable than some of the higher-end choices out there yet still provide a great cooking experience.
